A solar-powered airplane finished crossing the United States on Saturday, landing in New York City after flying over the Statue of Liberty during its historic bid to circle the globe, the project team said. The spindly, single-seat experimental aircraft, dubbed Solar Impulse 2, arrived at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport at about 4 a.m. local time after it took off about five hours beforehand at Lehigh Valley International Airport in Pennsylvania, the team reported on the airplane's website. Such a pleasure to land in New York! For the 14th time we celebrate sustainability," said the project's co-founder Andre Borschberg on Twitter after flying over the city and the Statue of Liberty during the 14th leg of the trip around the globe. The Swiss team flying the aircraft in a campaign to build support for clean energy technologies hopes eventually to complete its circumnavigation in Abu Dhabi, where the journey began in March 2015. Plenty of rumors abound about Google's upcoming Nexus 5 (2015), but none of those appear to be taking shape just yet. However, it is likely we will not be waiting for long before these rumors get confirmed or debunked, as yet another rumor coming out of GeekSnack says the new Nexus 5 could possibly be launched in August, along with the release of the final build of Android M.The report cites an anonymous source who says that a joint launch of a new Nexus device and Android M is a "sure thing." However, the source does not confirm whether the new device that will apparently become the standard bearer for Google's latest version of its mobile platform will actually be the new Nexus 5.
Exactly what kind of specs are we expecting for the new Nexus? GeekSnack says Google is scaling back from six inches to a 5.3-inch device that runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, possibly the newer version that doesn't have overheating problems, and 3 GB of RAM. It will come in 64 GB and 128 GB variants and will have a 16-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel wide-angle camera in front. The site also says that a source close to Google's engineering team claims a "major design improvement," namely the use of resistant carbon fiber to build a more durable body and a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the device. GeekSnack says the phone will feature wireless charging, fast charging and support for USB Type-C.
With Google set to release the third preview of Android M in late July before the software's final build, we may very well see a new Nexus device to wave the flag for Android M when Google launches its latest platform in August. If this device is actually the Nexus 5 (2015), we still can't know for sure.
